link to cat scratch syndrome

I'm not sure if this is true, but I am sure I have read somewhere that there is a link between cat scratch syndrome/disease and crohns disease. I can't find where I read it now and so don't even know if its the right or wrong info. Wondered if anyone here has heard of the link. I had cat scratch syndrome, when I was 17 and then 4 years later, I started with stomach ulcers which turned out to be down to the crohns. Has anyone else here had this cat scratch syndrome? All I had was a swollen lymph node in my neck which swelled to the size of a golf ball and I felt tired but other than that I was ok. I believe there are other symptoms and it can turn quite nasty in some cases. I had a biopsy, where the lump was removed and was told the results and didn't have to do anything else, it cleared up on its own. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

All I could think of is what they call cat scratch fever. I've never really had any issues with cat scratches because I clean them out well after I get 'em. Anything that scrapes around in its own toilet is bound to have nasty nails. ;)

Yeah I think thats probably the same thing Dan, wondered if theres a link though between that and crohns in some people.

I've heard the same thing but I don't know if there is any scientfic data on it...I've never had cat scratch fever myself but I sure have had crohns for 16 yrs straight now.

Never much liked that song . . . I have had some pretty wicked scratches from cats I used to show them. None got infected or turned into cat scratch syndrome which is an immune response in the blood to the bacteria or other germies found on a cat claw or in some cases a tooth. I tried to disinfect all types of animal injuries.

Cara, I had 2 cats when I got cat scratch syndrome/fever/disease and I used to play with them all the time. Bearing in mind I was only 17 at the time. I can honestly say though, at the time I hadn't had any scratches from either of my cats (my cats didn't scratch anyway) and they didn't bite so god knows where it came from. The only thing I can think of is, both of my cats were very affectionate and when I cuddled them, they would lick the end of my nose and I do remember the female one in particular nibbling my nose. It was her way of telling me she loved me lol bless her, she's in puddy cat heaven now!!! anyway, I think it must have come from that. It didn't stop me from keeping both my cats though, I'd have seriously kicked off if anyone tried to take my cats away.
