So everything has been going great since I got on Entocort and started Remicade....until yesterday:( I started getting major stomach pain and D and then when I tried to eat my body said NOPE!! I cant even keep water down, this sucks!!! Called the DR and she put me on Cipro and Flagyl as she said it sounds like I have an infection and not blockage since I am still passing stool or brown liquid, whatever you want to call it:) So now onto the 72hrs of no solid food. IM STARVING!!! I was doing so well and was starting to reintroduce some veggies and fruits back into my diet and now this. Oh well I guess thats why someone said one step forward to two steps back.

My GI's office told me if I couldn't keep liquid down (WATER) that is an emergency situation. You might need IV fluids if you are getting dehydrated.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Can you drink high protein drinks like Boost? The protein will make you feel fuller longer.

Hope you feel better quick.

Thats why I got taken into hospital again cause I could'nt even keep water down and I dehydrated. My liquid diet is acceptable at the moment as my stomach will just not hold onto anything solid.Doc has told me to get some sugar in cause my brain is scrambled a bit.The joys of this damn dsease.

Thanks for the support!! Im on day 3 now and am having a lovely feast of chicken broth...yummy:) Im feeling a little better and am now keeping things down which is a plus, but still having some pain. I think Im gonna go one more day and then start on some soft foods. I am drinking the boost plus bc I really cant stand to loose any weight Im already 100lbs and look scary. I am still new to this whole thing and was wondering if this is something that is fairly common, having to go on a liquid diet? I need to know if I need to stock up on soups and gatorade at home if I can expect to do this every couple months. Oh and everyone on here is really helping me through all of this since I dont know anyone who has this disease and before I was diagnosed my family thought that I was nutts. So I just want to say THANKS!!!

I'm glad to hear you are keeping liquids down. I would say it's (unfortunately) not that uncommon and it's good to have that stuff on hand just in case. Ideally you would not be having flares that often and your maintenance care should keep you under control, but the last thing you want when you're feeling that crappy is to have to go to the store and haul all that liquid home, it's heavy!

Are they doing anything to treat you acutely? Is that what the Entocort is for? Or is that maintenance? It sounds like if it is an acute treatment maybe you need to make some adjustments/treat a little more aggressively, have you talked to a doc about it? Make sure on top of soups and broths and such you get something for hydration (Gatorade, Pedialyte, etc.) and something nutritional (Ensure, Boost, etc.). I can't go with only liquids for more than two days without getting light headed, but lately I've been trying to do liquids as much as I can bear (which isn't much, but every bit helps).

I hope your meds start doing their job soon and you can go back to solid food. Liquid diets are no fun.
