Liquid food supplements for weight gain too filling

I've used loads of meal replacement supplements at various times. I'm on them now as I'm supposed to be trying to gain some weight in preparation for surgery. I'd previously been given Fortisips (liked the milkshake style, couldn't stand the juice and yoghurt styles). This time my prescription's come as Ensure plus. I like the taste alright, but they seem to be filling me up as much as the equivalent calories in food would. :( Each bottle is 330 calories but after having one I feel as full as if I'd just eaten a meal, and so when I do come to my meal times (I'm supposed to be having three Ensures a day as between-meal snacks) I really really don't want to eat any more.

My weight gain isn't going well. Which supplement fills you up the least? Is there any brand that's easier to digest or just provides more calories without the volume/richness? These are easier to get down than a cooked meal, but the calorie-dense supplements that are less volume than most foods seem to be much more rich (thick milkshake, basically), the ones that aren't so rich have less calories. I'm beginning to feel there is no solution to this problem. I've literally spent the last year on weight gain diets and my weight has only gone down. :(

For me, there is a big difference between the Ensure Plus and the regular Ensure. I cannot handle anything with or after the Plus, but when I drank the regular ones in the past, I would have room for a little snack or very light meal with it. I tried an Ensure Clear a while ago, but did not like the taste. I wonder if they are less filling, since they are clear?

We had the same issue with my son. He couldn't stand any of the plus or the 1.5 formulas, too filling said it was like drinking pudding and gave him stomach aches. We dropped down to the regular stuff and his GI had him increase the number of shakes to 6-8 a day and just eat small high caloric meals so we made things like chicken with a peanut sauce, he would have toast in the morning with peanut butter spread on it then drink a shake after. Never ate a lot but enough that we were able to get to around another 500-1000 calories a day in addition to the shakes which usually he was able to drink 6 of which was about 1400 calories.
We probably did too well as he gained 23 pounds in 6 weeks his GI said that was probably a little too fast on the weight gain (but he finally looked healthy) He was 5' and 77 lbs prior to starting the supplements.

I'm not sure if you can stomach it, but I use bodybuilder supplements. I've put on 3kg in 4 weeks (that includes training) and I dont find them that filling. I mix with water.

Can you have a half bottle or break it up during the day? Maybe a juice with some protein powder will be less thick and easier on you?

I sip them slowly while I'm reading, on the laptop, etc. and it takes me about an hour to get through one that way. Haven't thought of trying protein powders, I remember I had one years and years ago, I'll have a look at what's available online (though it also has to be something my doctor can prescribe).

Is that particularly fast weight gain? I was told to be aiming for a kilo a week (2.2lbs = 1kg), and unless my maths is totally wrong, your son was gaining just over 1.5.kg a week? Or maybe half a kilo more per week is quite a big difference, especially as he's a child.
