Please help...

If anyone has any ideas or anything about this, I'll gladly take it.

I'm so frustrated right now. I stopped being able to absorb fat recently and was put on Creon. It definitely helps! But still don't know WHY this has happened. Last week, dr. said either Crohn's or something wrong w/the pancreas. I have pain in my upper stomach and right mid and lower abdomen. I also have a little bump in my upper stomach.

Sent me for a cat scan today. Everything was normal. I feel 1/2 and 1/2 about the results - 1/2 of me is happy that they don't see anything really wrong. The other 1/2 is just upset because I want to know why I feel like crap and why my body stopped absorbing fat all of a sudden.

Dr. emailed me and said that if the pain persists, he can do an endoscopy w/biopsy. When I was first diagnosed with microscopic colitis (now just colitis), my colon looked fine. Luckily, he had done biopsies.

Please guys... anything you have...

Hi
I tried to go back and find your original story, but I couldn't find it. Are you having yellow watery D? I remember your not absorbing fats. Were your pancreatic enzymes elevated? Is that why he thought there was something going on with the pancreas?...Sorry to ask for so much info, the reason I ask is because after I had my gallbladder removed I have had that bile D especially after a fatty meal. The doctor prescribed Questran. It's a cholesterol med that binds the bile. When I take it, it does help. I was just wondering if that was some of your symptoms?

No, I appreciate you asking questions! I really need to find an answer :(

I have D every day, but not yellow. Only green (I'm on iron supps for anemia). The pancreatic enzymes test - is that a blood test? If so, I haven't had that yet.

Right now, I have colitis, but that's even a big question mark, as that dx has changed 3x.

I'm on Humira, Lialda, and Canasa.

Is it crohn's colitis? That's what I have.

Don't know Canasa, but could your pains be an adverse reaction to Humira? I know I had worse diarrhea on 5-ASA drugs (Lialda) and found it got better as soon as I stopped that drug. You could be hypersensitive to it as I am. It actually made my symptoms worse. My first GI didn't believe me but my second one did and actually convinced me to stop the drug and try 6-mp. Thanks to her, I've been able to get things under control.

At this time, I'm only dx'd as having colitis. In 2007, I was dx'd with microscopic colitis. In 2008, it went to ulcerative colitis. In 2009, it's not just colitis.

I started really having this problem about 2-3 weeks ago. Started taking the Humira over 2 months ago. I've always had bad diarrhea. My pain is in my stomach between my lower ribs. It goes between dull/aching and stabbing. Very nauseous when not on Creon. I have to take 2 pills w/every meal and 1 w/snacks. I can't absorb fat w/out them.

I have had oily stools before, but very intermittently. Not constantly like this.

I have a small lump or bump that you can feel on my stomach.

They check your enzymes with a blood test. They would also be able to tell if you have pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas). I'm sorry you don't have any clear answers yet. That's so frustrating.

It is... and I'm starting to lose patience :(
I'll ask my GI re: that blood test - thanks!

Thank you, Drew! I'm looking it over now. :)

Hey Ris, Im on a super duper (utterly boring) extra low fat diet because my problem is that I can't absorb fats - oh how I love good old fish and chips and oh how my bowels detest them! :) I have very pale D and apparently its the fat that makes it pale? Im sorry you're now experiencing the fat intolerance but the bonus....and its a fairy crappy one but one has to look for the silver lining somehow....you aren't storing loads of fat in your body which has to be good? I don't know - Im not medically trained so I could be talking absolute codswallop but it makes me feel better because MAN SOMETHING HAS TO MAKE THIS HAVE A BONUS!!!!!!

The one thing that gets me back on track when the fat is a flowing is porridge - good old stodgy porridge!

Anyway - totally pointless message from me - sorry!

LOL thank you, K!

What's a codswallop?! :D

Well......Im not entirely sure what codswallop is exactly but I'd go fo bunkum or a load of old cobblers! SO much more fun than nonsense

Ris I think you need more detailed tests done. Get on your GI with both feet.

Nicely put Farm. I agree. (Wear a nice pair of stilettos so you really get his attention)

I'm interested in this Creon. Not much else is working consistently for me. My diarrhea is basically a green-yellow toxic sludge biohazard.

Hey! Post 1000!!

Woo hoo, post 1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go, Johnny, GO!!!!!!!!!!

That diarrhea sounds awful :(
The Creon does help an awful lot. I'm able to function again. I take 2 before I eat a meal and 1 before I have a snack (anything that has any fat in it, even 1g).

You know I am new here and have had the colitis dx years ago and a recent colonoscopy shows active colitis and focal healing ulcerations - whatever that means! I am on here with you all trying to learn about all this and forgive me but the link given above just shot me out of the water. You all know allot more than i do to say the least! So a question that may sound dumb is : do you need to absorb fat in your body? and why?? Like i said, sorry if its a dumb question! I have looked at your pictures on here and you all are skinny. I am very overweight yet have very yellow D everyday - so must not be that I cant absorb fat cuz Id like to get rid of a bunch of that!! I am sorry Riss that you have these issues and hope you get this figured out. Forgive me but I am just hanging around trying to learn and maybe figure mine out too. Didnt mean to but in on your post.

Here is a link to a site that may be too basic of info for you, I dont know, but scroll down and it shows a chart of color of stool and what it means. Hope it helps someone...http://www.collectivewizdom.com/BowelColor.html

I really hope you find answers :(
