Little red spots

little red spots

only newly diagnosed with chrones am currently on pred and tapering down from 40mg and now down to 10mg but had few flares since dropped below 20mg , i have about 12 little red spot looking things sometimes with white heads and they then look like little blisters they dont really hurt and dont follow any pattern etc like shingles i also have a few on my back any help would be appreciated etc many thanks

Kev are you on any other medications like Aza or 6MP?

i was on asacol 500mg 6 times a day and 30mg lanzoprazole but at the minute only on lanzoprazole and 10mg of pred had few bad days in last 2 weeks since tapering off so had to step up for few days and they try tapering again

i am having blood tests tommorow becasue they are thinking of starting me on aza as they said tey needed to see if my body will accept them or something

I would have them check your white blood cell count while they are testing your blood.

I've no idea about the little spots. I developed similar during my first try with 6MP. Itchy spots with puss. I thought it was an immune system response and a reaction to 6MP and my IBD nurse agreed. But if you are on pred alone pretty much. I do know pred can cause pimples an acne in some folks. I would have them look at it tomorrow.

thanks i have done a bit of searching about on net and there does seem to be a few people who mention it but just thought id ask folk on here , i cant wait to try gt off pred it makes me so restless on a night and cant sleep and can get quite snappy over nothing at all and makes skin really greasy , on up side stops the bleeding etc and dont go to toilet every hour

I know!!! We all have a love hate relationship with pred!

I try to take it early early in the morning, but I still end up not sleeping well. Which only enhances my snappiness!

Hopefully you will be able to tolerate Aza or 6MP and get off the pred, digits crossed!

It can be peticia (?) - sort of like little blood blisters. If you watch CSI, that is the sort of hemorraging they like to talk about. I have them, and it can be related to anemia (so I am told). I have had ones for several years (mostly on the abs and legs), and their appearance has never really changed.

I had something very similar but it wasn't caused from any medication. It could be your Crohn's being active. I had to get tissue samples and the whole 9 yards and they still never figured out what it was. They were all over my arms, face and back. Good luck with figuring that out.
