DS just had his blood work done at 3:45 today.
GI called at 5:30 - Never a good sign.:frown:
His liver function was elevated apparently a lot again so GI said to be safe we have to lower back down to 12.5 mg of 6-MP :ybatty:
for at least the weekend ( his words) until he can come up with another plan.
Since we were already on that dose and it didn't completely "fix" things I am trying to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. :angry-banghead:

Doc had given us the choice last time of switching to methotrexate or adding allopurinol. WE tried allopurinol but.....:voodoo:

He had also mentioned remicade.

Have to wait the weekend .

Just want to cry now.

Ds had some severe stomach pain today enough that it hurt to even walk so we also have instructions per the GI if it comes back to just take him to the ER.
In case its something other that crohn's or a flare up either way to be safe.

I promise I will deal better Sat.

Aw mlp.I know all too well the feeling. :frown:
V ended up trialing Humira despite my terror and that is not too strong a word for what I felt about it.

So no advice but much understanding. There's just nothing easy about this.

Oh mlp......so many of here are going through very difficult times at present. :(

I hope you don't end up at the ER hun and things settle for your little guy over the weekend, bless him.

Just a couple of thoughts. Could they try alternating the dose of 6MP? A higher dose one day followed by a lower dose the next.
Having side effects to 6MP doesn't necessarily mean you will have side effects to Imuran. Perhaps they could try Imuran first before moving away from the immunosuppressants altogether?

Good luck and loads of well wishes!

Sorry to hear about your trouble mlp......as dusty mentioned....we are alternating 6 mp....my son also had elevated liver enzymes...they shot up after beginning what was thought to be his proper dose of 50 mg. day. Now...we do 50 one day...25 the next.....that brought liver enzymes down and still produces the therapeutic effect......

Hey MLP,

I hope your weekend was ok. It is so hard to watch them in pain and feel like there is so little you can do about it.

My son is on Imuran and our GI is starting to question how well it is working. He has only been on it for about 2.5 months so I am still holding out some hope that it is going to kick in and he is going to feel fabulous. Our GI must not have the same level of hope because she brought up the possibility of switching to methotrexate or Remicade last week. I saw your posts regarding Remicade and Humira and allergic reactions. What are your thoughts on methotrexate? I have been doing some digging on Remicade and the other biologics and now I need to look into methotrexate. Oh how I wish there were better choices.

Hope your son is feeling better.

:hang:
