Anyone know if low ALT in the liver function tests is anything to worry about - the range I see is 10-50 as nomal and mine is 7. GP posted this as a normal result and said all tests are fine. Confused therefore as don't know the relevance of the ranges if being under is ok ?? I get it measured as part of routine azathioprine checks every 3 months..appreciate if anyone has any experience of this as I have never had liver results off in the past although I only know this result as I got a printout. They told me all was normal on the phone but the sheet says abnormal. This seems to be how it works at my GP surgery so am not too confident in their processes. Hence the printout.

As far as I am aware there is no known disease process that causes a low ALT so you will probably find that it is just a one off.

Being on Azathioprine the concern would be liver enzymes, like ALT, being elevated as that may indicate that the liver is not coping with the drug.

So all is good! :thumleft:

Thank you Dusty Kat . Much appreciate the clarification ...would be so nice if the surgery would take a second just pass on little nuggets of sense like this. However I have my answer now _ so thanks
