Hello all,

So, the LOFFLEX diet is starting to sound appealing, and I'd like to try it out. Trouble is, I haven't had much luck finding info on it as far as specific foods to start out with, etc... I looked through some old posts on here, and in a couple of the threads someone posted links to pictures of what I presume were lists of "OK" and "not OK" foods, but it looks like the links are dead. Not sure if this is just a fleshed-out version of the BRAT diet, and you use that as a starting point and start adding in one food at a time? It sounds to me like a jump-started version of an elimination diet (which is basically what it is), but I'd still like to know if there's a somewhat definitive list for most people out there, just in case I'm not thinking of something. Bananas are great and all... but yeah. Anyone have any advice or can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance dudes!

The book might address this, but from a cursory search around the interwebs, it looks like the people who found success with this diet under Dr. Hunter started with an elemental diet at first in order to quell the symptoms. I wonder if it can still be effective even if I don't start out with an elemental diet. Hmmmm...

To be honest I don't know , when i did it I was on the elemenatl diet for a month first, this was post surgery. I seem to remember that he reccomends doing the elemental diet first.

The book is worth buying as it explains it all in detail and gives another option to treating IBD.

JDTM,
Hello. I tried the LOFFLEX diet for about three weeks without starting with the elemental diet. I was really ill at the time, and I just kept getting worse, so then I went on the elemental diet. When I started eating again, I tried the LOFFLEX again and relapsed quickly. After an elemental diet again, I began eating on a full elimination diet which I am still doing (it can be a long process). However, I believe that I have achieved remission with this process.

Look up old posts from soupdragon69 for specific info about what to eat on the LOFFLEX. (She also started with an elemental diet first, though.)

Good luck! :goodluck:
