Hi again
Well I went to my gp this morning as I couldn't take the pain and diarrhoea anymore, straight away he wanted to admit me to hospital but I refused as I seriously can't afford for my husband to miss anymore work without pay but assured him I will go if I know I need to which might be soon but I'll hold off as long as possible.
So he gave me lomotil and said to up the prednisone to 40 mg again, the lomotil came with a big warning leaflet explaining side effects etc not to take with sedatives or other opiates and I'm a bit worried as I'm on 8 tramadol a day 8 buscopan an 8 paracetamol .
I've been prescribed 2 three times per day, is anyone else here taking this combo of meds or similar an will I be able to function and drive ok ? Should I try them on there own first?
Any advice will greatly help
Jen xx

Hi Jen,
Sorry to hear that you're having a rough time right now. Hope it will be short lived and you'll soon be feeling better.
Just to let you know that I'm also taking Lomotil along with Tramadol, Paracetamol and preds. They were perscribed to me by my consultant rather than my GP, and he hasn't mentioned any interactions at all, and neither did pharmacy when I collected them. The Tramadol can sometimes make me feel slightly 'hungover' some morning's, and the Lomotil has at times given me a dry mouth, but appart from this I haven't really noticed any other side effects. I was able to function, work and drive ok, but I do know of others that have taken Tramadol, and have had slower reaction times after a dose and so have chosen not to drive.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but I think drugs have different effects on different people, and so you should just listen to what you're body's telling you. Hope you're feeling better soon.
And x

Hey Jen, Glad to hear that they worked for you, and no bad side effects.
There does appear to be a growing Welsh crowd on here, mainly from the South and Cardiff/Newport area. Great to have you aboard!!:bigwave:

Hi Jenny, I'm not familiar with Tramadol but from what you've said I'm assuming it's a sleep aid? I used to take Trazodone and now I take Amitriptyline to get to sleep at night, and I also take Lomotil as needed, and I've never had any problems with it. Trazodone and Amitrip are both anti-depressants/sleep aids. I've never gotten any warnings about Lomotil - my GI encouraged me to take Lomotil as often as I need to, and when I asked if it's okay to take with my other meds, he said yes, it's fine.

Hi Cat (don't want to hijack the thread). Tramadol's a pain killer, that can cause severe drowsiness as a side effect - it was given to me when I was in hospital recently, so guess it had dual purpose then. Definitely aids sleeping when on a busy care of the elderly ward!!
