Hi. I've been battling this bug going around for a couple of months. Plus, I'm still battling an ongoing flare that's gone on for over a year. A few days ago, I started having these long bathroom visits. It would take me awhile to go, but then I'd go, get washed up and then have to go again. But, it seems like these visits are tending on getting longer (a good 15 minutes). I've gotten so bad that my anal area is extremely sore and I'm seeing dots of fresh blood on the TP coming from the anus. We took the night off putting a Rowasa enema in me last night and didn't seem to make any difference. I'm a bit too sore to use the enema tonight either. Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry for the long post, I'm getting pretty frusterated.:stinks:

I have been having the same problem the last few days. I don't really know why it happens, but I've been trying to soak my bum in the bathtub a couple of times a day. I can't quite take a full bath though because of the stitches from my op a couple of weeks ago. :/

Anyway, I don't really have any solutions for you, just wanted to offer a little empathy in that you are not alone.

Can you phone your GI to ask what he or she suggests? Soaking in the tub sounds like a good idea to me as well, but you might ask if you can use something like balneol to clean up? My CR surgeon suggested it to me when I had my seton placed and needed to clean up while at work or where I couldn't otherwise take a bath. I believe it's primarily for post-pregnancy soreness, but it worked great for me in that situation. I keep it in my "kit," along with actually soft TP to use, rather than that industrial sandpaper stuff they have in public restrooms. ;) Wishing you some relief very soon!

Yes the problem with going alot and then the bile eventually hits the area where is it bleeding, omg so much burning! After your bm use a non alcohol wipe and no perfume to wipe the area. Get some Calmoseptine, it is a cooling sensation and helps to heal the area. I am never without it!

Thanks everyone! Thankful to hear that I'm not alone:) Also, sad to hear that we all have to deal with the same thing though. Do use wipes always. I'm pretty sure they don't have alcohol in them. Will email my doctors to see what they say. Thanks again. Have a good day everybody!

To get yourself moving along, do try the Bikram Yoga Wind Removing Pose. It is a stretch you do on the floor, twice. It will remove the air trapped within the digestive system and also helps "move" things along. Within 24 hours you will have a movement without much effort. Do at least twice a day (morning/night) and it should get you regulated. Also do belly rubs to get blood circulating in the area and that will help it heal and get things moving along. Hope it helps!

I also have long visits to the bathroom. I always have blood on the toilet paper when I go to the bathroom. It is frustrating because people don't understand and think I am some guy taking a big huge dump (graphic I know!) Cross-stitch gal--do you like your doctor in Vancouver?? The two I have seen in Portland, OR have been horrible and I am looking for a new one.

Both of my doctors are female. My main doctor is here in Vancouver. My GI is in Clackamas. My insurance is through Kaiser Permanente and I was born into the system. For the most part I've been pretty happy with my doctors. This time around though, I've sometimes had a hard time getting a response from them. But, they've still been fairly helpful otherwise. Who do you have your insurance through?

Am not getting any better. In fact, am having a hard time eating meals because of the discomfort afterwards. Emailed my GI tonight though. So, hopefully will have a response before long. Will keep you updated on how I'm doing.

I totally understand where u are comming from I have had these symptoms for around 5 years.

I find using baby wipes by dabbing not rubbing helps also the bath.

But also go to the chemist if u can make it and buy some hemorrhoid cream with a numbing agent in it so it's not so sore.

Hope it helps and gets better soon.
