Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding when there is a bowel movement...there is something going on that I am just concerned about and hoping it is nothing as I finally feel so much better for the first real time since getting sick...

So here's the situation..a little graphic but I need to go there to explain. sorry in advance...

So, when having a bowel movement, i used to have the bloody stool the same as many of you...my issue now is that when I use the washroom, there's not blood (THANK GOD) but there seems to be .....fibers? Long fibers which were nothing I ate, but dont look right and there is a tiny bit of pain during the bowel movement..not bloody, but could these be something that is just nothing?

I am just curious as to what this is supposed to be? am I getting worse inside again and this is something thats a sign or is this NOTHING...please clear up my question, i know its likely a stupid question, but thanks guys. :)

Odd. I get the something like that, only when my D is pretty much those strands and yellow or green water. I always forget to ask my GI about it....I wonder if it's dead cells or something from the inflammation coming out...

How many times has it happened? A LOT of fibers, or just a few? How long are they? Any particular color, or is it hard to tell cuz they are basically poop color?
My best guess is that it IS related to something you ate even though you can't figure out what it was. Did you eat a banana? They give you tiny string-like fibers.
If it persists, you should probably call your doc just to be sure.

I find I get the 'fibre-like' poos if I've eaten something quite fatty, or something that has peels...the peels kind of curl up and look like a fibre...

In the absence of reasoning above, I'd take heed of the following and head straight for a Doc....

"The clinical presentation of C difficile –associated disease can range from mild self-limited diarrhea to severe colitis with pseudomembrane formation complicated by development of toxic megacolon or colonic perforation. The classic presentation is cramping abdominal pain with profuse, mucoid, greenish, malodorous watery stools."

From Medscape

It could be many things, but the fact that there's no blood accompanying it is a great sign. Refer to your GI to be sure if none of the above advice qualifies or you're still unsure, or it persists. If it passes, or has passed, probably food or even some "tissue" that's healing because you're not bleeding any more. Scar tissue builds up, I've seen it in my own scopes.

seconding mbh on the banana possibility. took me a loooooong time to figure that one out, i thought i had freakin worms or something.
i wouldnt call them long fibers though, though some of them were. but definitly scary looking until you know what it is.
did you ever get it resolved jamie?
