Longest running on Humira

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

ive been on it since 2007. 1 pen every two weeks. doc said it saved my life.
alls i know is that it helped with my ankylosing spondylitis for sure.

Iv read a few threads here, that said remission for at least 2 years, then some go up to a weekly dose, and get another couple of years before it stops working. I begin in a few weeks on humira, and even a year or two before having to have entocort or swap to imunesuppressive meds again, and I'll be happy. My GI says I need to stay on 6mp as humira won't work on it's own. This is the bit that confuses me, because Iv noticed on here, most on humira don't take other immunesuppresants??? Best of luck with it :)

Irene3, We've only been on one thing, Humira successfully for 14 months...starting to show some CD symptoms after being sick in Feb...then in March. Doc thinks it revved up his immune system.. I noticed you mentioned being on entocort...what was that like?

I've been on Humira since September 2007. I really don't know if it helps or not but don't want to stop and get even worse. It's not a drug one can stop and then typically start up again months later.

Hi Brians mum...
I Havnt been on entocort, but I think after I wean the pred, if I have a flare in 1-2 years because the humira stops working, then I'd prefer it, rather then pred again. Aparantly it works the same way for the bowels, without the nasty side effects. :)

I was on the pens 2 weekly since 2007, this put me in full remission, saved my life, allowed me to live life return to work, (prior to Humira I was having yearly bowel resection surgery, was very very thin and docs told me I wouldn't see 40 - well I'm now 42). Humira is the only drug in 26 years that I have had any success with, Humira was honestly my life saver
However, sadly after 5 years of amazing remission, today I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy to find that my symptoms aren't all in my head and my friend/enemy crohn's disease is back, but, I can say on a good note that Humira was well worth the injection every 2 weeks coz it gave me a life I didn't think I would ever have again
I trut wish you all the very best with Humira and hope that you get the remission and life back that I was so lucky to have had
If I can be of any help during your treatment, please ask and I will do my best to answer, cheers Rachel

I'm on Aza and Humira, been on Aza for about 2 and a half years and Humira 9 months, supposedly the aza stops your body from developing anti bodies, as we all know, they will fight off the Humira.

But ALOT of people have awesome success with just Humira, depending on the individual, they either take it twice a month or 4 times a month.
