Looking for answers and help.

Greetings to all,

I have been recently (April 2018) diagnosed with Crohn's. The doctor has given me medication but I am still having the pain in the abdomen and fatigue. Before I had an MRI done, for which I had to cleanse for, I felt like the meds I am on now we're working a little. But everything has fell apart after. My real question is if anyone while being treated for Crohn's continued to have the abdominal pain and fatigue? Does it ever go away? I went from being the most active person with five jobs, being in the military, able to run 7 miles without getting tired to barely having the energy to move and deal with the abdominal pain. Im losing hope and battling with my faith. I feel like I'm a burden to everyone. Even my Girlfriend who I have supported through her issues and deep depression is pulling away. I just want to go back to my regular life. I apologize for rambling. Thank you for any help.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. Yes, things can get better! What you need is the right treatment plan. If you are on the right course of treatment you should feel pretty good. I know of plenty of people who have crohn's or other IBD that are in remission and doing well and enjoying life. Hang in there, don't ever give up.

Welcome to the forum. Some medications can take time to work, I think with Stelara it can be up to six months. You didn't mention what you are on. You could talk to your doctor about not seeing any improvement, maybe he can start you on something else. Sometimes it takes trial and error to find something that works. Fatigue is a tough one, mine is finally getting better now that I got switched to a different medication. Have you tried corticosteroids? They usually work quite fast, but are not a long term solution. It will get better, hang in there.

It can take a while to find the right medication. Definitely let your GI know that you are still experiencing pain. It’s generally a sign that the inflammation is still active. When do you get the results of your MRI?

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. It has been a busy couple of days for me so I apologize for the delayed response. Currently I am on Budesonide 3 MG at 3 capsules a day, and Azathioprine 50 MG at 2 tablets a day. I did get the results of my MRI and my doctor scheduled me for a colonoscopy on the 28th of this month. I am just extremely happy that I can chat with others who have been or going through what I am. Thank you again!

Good to hear you are getting a colonoscopy, that may help your doctor with a more clear diagnosis.
I just started treatment for Crohn's too.
I take the 6mp pill and Humira injections.
Keep us updated.

It can take 2-3 months for aza to kick in, so don't be discouraged. Things will get better! Hang in there.

It took 10 months, yes 10, for Azathioprine to work for my son. But, it worked!! Please don't give up on your faith. This is a time when you need to lean and depend on Him.
