Hi, I have been suffering from Crohn's Disease since I was 10 years old. I am now 40 and things are going from bad to worse. My wife and I recently moved to Essex and I'm now under the care of Dr Shah at Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford. However, after several appointments with him, I am distinctly unimpressed with his treatment of me. He told me that I have a restriction in my bowel and I may need to have surgery (bearing in mind I only have a little bit of bowel left due to an operation as a teenager) and I needed to be seen asap. He gave me his secretary's details and I called today, only to find out the first clinic he can see me in is at the end of February!
I really want to try and find someone locally who is more understanding what I am going through and comes up with some options other than surgery. Does anyone have any recommendations for a gastroenterologist in the Essex area? Also willing to travel to Cambridge if necessary - have heard Addenbrookes could be an option.
Many thanks in advance for any advice,
Anthony
