Hi all,
I have just had a phonecall from my IBD nurse to see how I was getting on. So I told her I could feel the begining of another flare. Bleeding, pain, more frequent trips to the loo, hips and knees killing me - the usual.
So she said she has just had a conversation with my consultant to discuss my case, again. He has recomended that I have elective surgery within 12 months. Even though my last colonoscopy came back ok he has said when I have another flare there will be nothing they can do. They are thinking along the lines of colon removal and j-pouch, I think.
Am having a meeting with one of the team next Friday and we will discuss where we go from here. I will be ensuing a research foray now to see what information I can gather and to get any questions straight in my head ready for next Friday.
I am, strangely, a little relieved now. I think knowing they are not going to tell me to try this drug or that drug again is making it easier.
I wish you all a very wonderful Christams and a pain free New Year.

Sharon ~ I really am hoping that, with the removal of the colon, you have no more symptoms. Of course, if it is Crohn's rather than UC, I hope that it will lead to a long remission. You'll be in my prayers. Keep us posted.

Thank you Jessi. I am hoping to get my biopsy results next Friday so will let you know as soon as I do.
Hope you are well.

I'm very well, thank you. I was having a bit of a panic attack earlier, but am now calming down thanks to xanax. This was my first time taking it, so I was a little worried that the pill might kill me. Man, how silly I can get sometimes. But I feel great now. :D

Yes, definitely let us know as soon as you find out the results. I hope you are well too, love.

I am like that when I take new meds as well. So scared I will react to it and end up in hospital.
Glad you are feeling better now though.

Hiya Sharon

Just reading your sig, you've tried everything to no avail, good luck with your decision, a hard one to make, but hopefully for the best!
Take comfort in reading lots of success stories re surgery here on the forum.
