Hi All!

I've had my ileostomy for almost 3 months and all this time everything was perfect. Blood tests were fine, I recovered my strength and apetite, I gained some weight, I had a great summer and everything seemed to be ok.

Until yesterday, when on my way back from work, I felt a very sudden and severe pain in the belly area which resulted to a relatively big bleeding. It lasted for about an hour, I think I've lost around 400ml of blood and as suddenly as it came in the same way it was gone.

Since that time I had smaller bleedings (suppose something like remains) and today I also have high fever (up to 39°C).

Talked to my doctor, and he advised me to take some blood tests and visit him tomorrow.

I really hope it's nothing cos I can't stand the pain anymore. Sick of it!

I'm glad you are seeing your doctor because that definitely isn't normal. I hope everything is okay. Please keep us posted.

So the ileostomy is not bleeding, right? Whew! You scared me!!

Sounds like you've got a pretty good flare going. I hope you can get it under control quickly--maybe some prednisone?

Big hugs!!

Just got back from the doctor. It seems that the fact I had an ileostomy, hasn't helped the colon to heal. There is still active crohn's there and he suggested that I get prednisone as well as salofalk enema more often that I did so far.

If everything goes well I will visit him again after a couple of weeks. If the bleeding persists (which doesn't so far) I will have to go to the hospital for more detailed tests, colonoscopy etc.

Many thanks for you support and replies!

I have loop-colostomy but yeah, i have passed good amount of blood from behind once. I get mucus-blood coming from my loop-colostomys "the other hole" all the time, it's coming from my rectum. Anyway, i have a flare and been on prednison, which i am taking to my newly diagnosed pyoderma too. And they are going to scope me in december.

Hope prednison helps!

My rectal stump was very naughty.
I had a flare that required hospitalization (how does something so little produce so much?)
It had colitis. It had fissures.
It took regular butt facials to get it under control.
Hope you feel better soon.
