Since November my RDW (11.3, low=11.5) and MPV (7.3, low=7.5) have been low. My October CBC showed these levels at midrange not anywhere near their current level. I have also been experiencing tachycardia, palpitations, shortness of breath, anxiety, facial flushing, and calf cramping. All symptoms with the exception of tachycardia started in November. I have been sent to a cardiologist and monitored which showed tachycardia but no heart problems. I have had chest x-rays, cat can, and multiple blood tests but no vitamin panel. Do you think this could potentially be low B12? If so, what tests should I request from my doctor?

The working diagnosis is steroid withdrawal or nortriptyline are causing current symptoms.

Current Medications: Prednisone (12 months at 10-20mg , tapering currently at 1.25mg), Remicade, Lomotil, Nortriptyline

Have you had any blood work done larely!? Tell your doctor about your symptoms and ask for some blood work.

I had my B12 and Folic Acid checked... Both were on the very low end of normal. The internal medicine DR recommended taking an oral supplement but no injections or prescriptions. Plan to run this past my IBD DR via email. Thoughts based on your experiences? No surgeries, but have had Crohn's involvement with the terminal ileum. I have read past threads were crohnies with low normal B12 have been helped by B12 injections.

B12 = 291 (Low: 236, High: 931)
Folate = 5.0 (Low: 2.8, High: 20)
