Lower dose of mxt.

Not been on a lot as things been going ok. A blip with the blood numbers though....white cell and neutrophils getting lower so his team have decided to lower his dose of mxt from 15mgs to 12.5mgs. I'm thinking maybe he doesn't need so much now because the bad area has been taken away?
Has anyone had this happen and did it go ok on the reduced dose?

Haven't had that issue with mtx but I did lower Imuran due to low white blood cells and it was fine at 75 vs the 100 I was on at the time.

It may very well be without the bad area you don't need as much lf the med to stay under control. Just make sure to keep doing blood work and watching for symptoms, but it seems like a rational choice.

My daughter tried to go from 15mg to 10mg once and it didn't work. In her case it was because she just didn't like MTX (made her nauseous) but her bloodwork was fine, so she was able to go back up.

That said, every kid is different and I know many kiddos who have been able to lower their MTX dose. Good luck!! Hope it works for your boy!
