Lucy Unwell - update

Hi all

am a little freaked out here, Lucy had her weekly blood work this morning, just had a call from the hospital to say her white cell count was 16.5 suggesting moderate infection. Rang the GI unit and they suggested I take her to her GP - cant get an appointment for about 3 hours. She seems ok in herself just a little lethargic. She is on 6 mp and Cirpro ... am really worried that she has a bowel infection or that one of her fissures has become infected - she has no outward signs of a sore throat or sore ear, hence the worry.

Sorry, Polly. I hate when I read of the tiniest ones being sick.
No advice just some love and understanding

Overall not too bad - UTI, so another antibiotic, GP was happy enough that she didnt need to be admitted. Urine Sample gone to the lab, will repeat in 5 days. Thanks everybody for replying.

So good to hear that it is something easily treated polly! :) What a relief!

Let us know how she is getting on, bless her.

Got the lab work back on Lucy's urine today - so not an infection, sample must have been contaminated. Am glad in one way because the Augmenton was literally running through her and I was going to have to stop it anyway, but now we are back to square one and dont know the source of her infection, so back for more blood work on Monday. GI started her on Flagyll aswell today. Does it ever end.

:stinks: and :voodoo: some stabbing for you

It sometimes "ends" as in, V did have 3 symptom free years where she lived like she had no disease (other than dysauto which is always annoying but easily dealt with) so they CAN and often do go into those periods where they can just live normally.
But I'm right there with you...it's a constant presence. Whether they feel good or ill.

It really is a constant presence - you are so right - Lucy was diagnosed almost nine months ago - she was really ill for more than a year before that and there have probably been only about 6 weeks in the last 9 months that she has been ok, 3 of them in the last 6 before we had this bout. I have such high hopes for the 6 mp - we are on week 10 and 4 weeks off prednisone and it feels like we are back at square 1. I was afraid to ask the GI at our last appointment what if the 6 mp didnt work so I dont know what the next option is - does anyone? I know they are reluctant to put her back on the prednisone but if it is the only thing that works ............ oh I dont know.

Polly, if you've read some other of my posts you know how EN helped V. What about that for little Lucy? I wouldn't be without it for Violet.

V used pred for the first time recently and it was like a miracle. But of course they cannot maintain on it.

She's about to start naltrexone and there are threads on this, some claim it helped tremendously, I have a lot of doubt but as it is so safe I'm going to give it a go. her GI has used it with others and didn't have awesome results, but as he said this is such an individualized disease...

with love...
