I have had a preliminary diagnosis of Lupus. It started after about 7 months and I've been on Humira for a year. I'm off Humira now. The Lupus recedes after stopping the medication (I read - assuming that is the cause). Symptons of lupus are (in my case) dry red skin and rash around neck, face and splotches on arms and legs and sensitivity to the sun.
I'm 60 yrs old and I notice sun sensitivity of people on Humira is more prevalent in my age group than younger people.

Sorry you have been diagnosed with Lupus and have to go off the humira. However, thank you for sharing your story for others to see and be aware of what to look for.

Humira is known to cause something called "Drug Induced Lupus Erythematosus". That the symptoms are going away after going off the medication tells me there's a good chance that's what you're experiencing.

I hope that is indeed the case and that you don't have systemic lupus.

Please keep us updated as to how you're doing!

I'm currently on Remicade and my doctors think I may have developed Lupus. I go to the Rheumatologist on Monday. My GI thinks if it's the Remicade causing it that I should go on to Humira. I don't think so, especially not after reading this.

I was also on Cimzia a few years ago and I began developing the same symptoms I have now before my doc took me off of it because it stoped working.

What medications are you on now?

ThanksP, that's something I would discuss with your Rheumatologist. Let them know that the first biologic you were on (Cimzia) produced these symptoms, you're experiencing them now on another biologic (Remicade) so what is their feeling about Humira? Is it likely to do the same -- why or why not? Could you please let us know their opinion when they provide it as I'm curious about their reasoning.

Regardless, good luck with it.

I was on Humira for over a year, but was recently taken off of it because I developed drug-induced Lupus. My symptoms were joint pain and stiffness, fatigue, flushed cheeks, and temperature fluctuations. I have been off of Humira for 4 months, but I still have these symptoms. I wonder how long drug-induced Lupus lasts after going of the medication?

The Dermatologist at out patients gave me a Dermol Cream script and it seems to have worked in an instant on my red turkeys skin.
I've been on zero meds now for almost a month.

I also had a drug induced lupus reaction to Humira. I answer to Essieluv's question, it took five months before all of my symptoms disappeared. I was symptomatic with the lupus for 8 months, but the doctor's couldn't agree that's what was happening to they kept me on the Humira. Not fun!
