Anyone with lyme and crohns? I'm not sure if I have it but there is a good chance. Usually with lyme they boost the immune system and pump you full of antibiotics. Well antibiotics wreck havoc on my GI and I'm on immune suppressants. I'm kind of scared about trying to treat this but it may be the source of many of my problems.

My wife has Lyme but not Crohns. I got that one.

What specific response do you have to antibiotics?

What symptoms give you the impression you might have Lyme?
Dan

Well antibiotics cause the crohns to get worse usually but not always. I know you need longterm antibiotics with lyme. I had a bulls eye rash and have many of the symptoms of lyme such as full body pain and severe fatigue.

The bulls eye rash is about 99% certain you have Lyme. Nothing else produces that.

Lyme rarely comes by itself. Bartonella, Babesia and other infections are often transferred along with the Lyme.

Did you get the rash prior to your a Crohns diagnosis?

Immune suppressants are not a good idea if you have Lyme. Some Lyme patients do use LDN if they can tolerate it.

The rash came a few years after my crohns diagnosis. I have a very aggressive disease so I doubt I could get off immunosuppressants.

The only way I know of to treat Lyme while having Crohns would be using IV ABX. That would likely only work for a while as you have had it too long to cure it.

The other option would be to use frequency treatments. That is how I got my wife back to normal. Not cured but well controlled with no symptoms. I use the same method for treating Crohns. Targeting the specific pathogens involved.

Not something everybody is willing to use but quite effective.

It's a bad combo to have together, but not unbeatable.

Dan

Unfortunately it seems most doctors are not lyme literate or approve IV antibiotics and certainly not for the amount of time necessary. Also don't think insurance covers it.

When you say frequency treatments you mean ABX every flare of lyme?

Good luck -- I had Lyme about three years before my IBS transitioned into Crohns... wondering if that was what tipped the balance, so to speak.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
