I have had a painful lump in my upper thigh towards my groin. My Wife thought it might me a lymph node when I showed her. Mid September, I had my GI check it out and he thought it was in the wrong place and to tubular to be a lymph node. I finally went to my GP and he wasn’t sure either after checking me for a hernia. I was sent for an MRI - showing that it is indeed a lymph node swollen measuring 24mm x 54mm.

Called the GI and let him know and of course he sent me back to the CRS. So I see him on the 24th.

From searching I think the node is a “Superfical inguinal lymph node”.

So the GI and GP think it is related to my fistula. Nothing has really changed to make me think it is infected - still draining about the same. I started Remicade in August and have completed all my loading doses. I get another infusion on Oct. 31. So far I haven’t seen miraculous results with it unfortunately. It sounds like it can take time though.

So has anybody else experienced lymph node swelling in this area and had it related to a fistula/peri-anal issue?

Yes, in the same location, but only 10/12mm. Has not been a problem since drainage of the fistula has been improved by having a seton in place.

I am having a similar issue now... I have a swollen lymph node near my right groin and it has been coming and going while my fistula has been active. Apparently it's normal. I know swollen lymph nodes are a side effect of Humira, which I take, as it can supposedly cause lymphoma, but my docs all said that this inflammation is almost always a "reactive lymph node," reacting to the infection.

i have a fistula near my lady parts, and when it first fistulized i had a sore lymph node in that same groin area on that side. it has since stopped being sore for the most part, but still there. started remicade 6 weeks ago, still in loading doses, hasn't closed fistula, but i'm getting less drainage so hopefully it's getting smaller and healing. the lymph node has gotten a little smaller too, so hopefully that means healing as well.
