Reading through posts I notice there is quite a variation as to when and what medication is prescribed, if any, following a resection for CD.
Sarah:
wasn't diagnosed until she was operated on so she didn't actually see a GI until 3 months post op. However her GP did contact the guy that was to become her GI at about 2 weeks post op and she was commenced on Imuran 50mg daily. She remains on that same dose 5 years later.
Matt:
was already on Imuran 50mg daily and this was increased to 100mg daily post operatively. He is also on a 3 month course of Flagyl as the GI Prof stated that research suggests this will increase his chances of maintaining remission over a longer period of time.
What are your experiences?
Dusty.
Just an added snippet and my opinion...
If you have a surgeon and a GI with two differing opinions as to how your Crohns should be managed in the long term, go with the GI.
