Hi guys! :)

I'm new to this forum, so apologies if I have got the wrong place/area for posting this. I've been diagnosed with Crohns since 2011 (a month before I turned 21), wasn't looked after properly, got complications - had a bladder to bowel fistula - and then ended up having a temporary ileostomy which put me into remission where I've been for 2 years now, and had my ileostomy reversed, August 2013.

Basically, mum booked me into a pampering session for a Christmas present which includes a massage (yay) and that I'm going to go to tomorrow (just came out of my masters, currently seeking work *sigh*) Now the beautician is worried about me having a massage on my stomach region due to scar tissue and the Crohn's. Although there is some evidence from my last colonscopy of it returning, it's not bad enough for put me on drugs and currently I don't seem to be suffering from symptoms except for a good dose of d which I tie in more with the op then anything else.Anyway, I've tried to get into contact with my doctor to see whether I shouldn't have a massage that includes this part of my body, but he hasn't got back to me which I understand (Relatively low down the priority scale someone asking about massages when were talking about Crohn's), so I was just wondering has anyone who has got Crohn's had one, or anyone with scar tissue from operations, and is it OK?

Thank you in advance:thumright:

Hi glade u ok yeap I've had the bladder to bowel fistula as well plus abscesses to boot but I came away with having bit of my bladder removed and a resection of my small bowel plus a wedge resection from mekels divaticulum all in one op and yeah that's a good question for the future sorry I can't help :)

I have a whole belly full of scar tissue from multiple abdominal surgeries and all of my small bowel is stuck together. I've had deep myofascial release work done, which is much rougher than a massage, on my abdomen in attempt to break up some of the scarring. If you are not flaring and not having pain when touched, I don't think there is a conflict in having a gentle massage on your tummy.
