I was pleased to read that Gov. Cuomo is issuing an executive order to allow medical marijuana in NY http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/01/05/nyregion/new-york-state-is-set-to-loosen-marijuana-laws.html. I don't know if crohn's is going to be one of the conditions covered but since neighboring NJ covers IBD I am assuming NY will as well.

I have never tried or considered it but now that they are legalizing it I wonder if my dr will find it beneficial for me.

Does marijuana interact with Remicade or Methotrexate?

It will be interesting to see if this comes to be.....and if there is anything said on Wednesday during the state of the state address.....

I think the momentum is too great to stop it at this point. I think the laws are going to change in a number of states this year.

I don't think there is much that MJ interacts with. I have smoked it while on many different types of meds and never had an issue. It's a miracle for me, stops the D without constipation and helps the pain sooo much. Canada is changing their system and IBD is on the list for us. Kinda excited to be able to get a prescription

I'm out of it right now and I can tell. Bathroom trip quadrupled and no appetite, ugh

The NY senate approved medical marijuana and Gov Cuomo will sign it. It will take effect and be available in 18 months. Does anyone know if one of the conditions it covers is crohns? I looked at the legislation but didn't see anything specific to allowing it for IBD patients.

I will see if I can find anything on it during one of my walk-throughs of the Capitol - there often is information found near his receptionist on current bills that the Governor has signed.

Will keep you posted!

Thanks. I don't think he signed it yet though. The original discussion included IBD as one of the diseases it would be approved for but who knows with politicians.

Paso, I heard from a crohns user that IBD is in fact coveted under the NY law. They seemed very knowledgeable so hopefully ny will get some relief.

I really wish the UK would open its eyes to the benefits of MM.

The thought of having a controlled market for the sole use of medical purposes is amazing - I am so jealous.

I read that it's only available for terminally ill patients. However, the law shouldn't stop any one of us from battling this nightmare disease. I cannot use marijuana though, it gives me far too much anxiety. My blood pressure goes way up. Must be a brain chemistry thing.

You are correct. This is what it says at compassionate care act organization website.

We have a State election coming up in November here in Victoria, Australia. The party now in opposition, who on current polling could get into office, is discussing the legalisation of medical marijuana. The reaction from the community seems to be overwhelmingly in favour of this, with the usual hysterical opposition from a small group.
