So after I saw my GI, he put me on Prednisone and Flagyl. I truly believe these medications are making me feel WORSE! :confused2: My stomach area hurts worse, I have more cramps, I'm always nauseous. I ate some grapes the other night and good lord, I felt as though I was getting my (sorry guys....) period, but in my stomach/intestines! And I've had a hysterectomy! 2 months ago grapes did nothing to me. It seems that now that someone is looking for something, NOW I have the symptoms, but not before. Well, I did have some before, but it seems like now I have more. Now I'M questioning if it's in my head............:(

Does anyone else get worse on some of these medications??

I'm on Prednisone right now, and used to be on Flagyl.
Can't say they made me worse, but these things are different for everyone.
Sounds like you need to have a good chat with your doctor.
Also, grapes are DEATH for me. I always avoid them like the plague.

*sigh* I really like grapes...........And oranges, and apples, and nectarines, and raw carrots, and ............... well, I could go on. I recently started adding more fruits & veggies to my diet and now it seems as though I won't be able to eat those anymore. So sad. Guess I'll have to experiment when I finally get some answers.

I'll be talking to my dr. on Tuesday - I have an EGD that afternoon. Maybe I just have myself so stressed out that I'm making things worse myself. If only I could just say, "well, I'm not having the EGD until Tuesday, so I'm not going to worry about it" and "Well, the results of the EGD won't be in for a week, so there's no sense worrying over them now". I'm just not that kind of gal I guess.

yup, i was sure mesalazine and sulfasalazine were both making me worse.

the more of them i took, the more i threw up and the big D just got worse and much more frequent.

hang in there Jen, they'll find the right meds for you sooner or later:)

Hey Jen I love grapes too - so much so that I can't give them up - they are one of life's few pleasures left to me (despite the fact that they trigger my Crohn's).

What I do to get my 'fix' - I know this sounds disgusting but I am desperate - is to suck them and then spit out the skins. It's the skins that seem to cause most of the problems. At the moment I am too unwell even to do that, but it may be a solution for you.

Tinned and cooked fruit and vegies seem to be better. I just long for the day when I hit remission and can eat what I like again!

Pred helps me but it's not enough. It certainly doesn't make me worse. It's an anti-inflamatory so it should help your symptoms but sometimes the side effects you get are worse. Flagyl tends to be hard on your tummy though. Keep pushing for answers.

Veggies that are cooked well should be better for you. Seems the skin on fruits and veggies cause problems.

Asacol and Rowasa made me worse. Entocort is much better for me, though I still get pain.

Tell your doctor everything that is going on, sometimes a change in meds does the trick. Keep a food diary so you know what foods irritate your Crohn's. If I eat the wrong food it doesn't matter what meds I am on I feel miserable.

I've been on Prednisone and Colazal. Experimented with not taking Colazal and found symptoms improved. I think my body doesn't tolerate colazal or asacol well.
