Melatonin and Crohn's?

Hi, I've been having tons of trouble sleeping and I was researching online and found mixed reports of crohn's disease and melatonin. What is your take on these two together? I am currently taking Humira...and that's it atm

I am on Humira and I also take melatonin to help me sleep. I haven't had any complications, side effects etc. It does help me sleep and that's what I need. I've only been on Humira for a short time, but have been using melatonin for a few years now (dx w/ crohn's dx around may '07).

sorry about the complications sleeping, try some lavender oils as well, and maybe some calming and sleep putting type tea before bed.

I read that Melatonin was good for Crohn's, but also that it may aggrevate autoimmune diseases..... So like you I'm puzzled???

yeah, I really need something for sleep...I work 3rd shift and have to try to sleep during the day...but I don't want to instigate a flare...I think I'm gonna try it and see how it goes...first sign of issues, I stop though..

I use melatonin a lot. Never had any complications. Works great.

Where do you get melatonin, other than naturally?

You can get it pretty much at any store in the vitamin section. I get mine at Walmart

Hi All,

I am very new to this chat room thing, in fact this is my first time ever on a chat room. But i was told to look for some help and i do not seem to get anyone wanting to offer up any info if there is a support group for people with crohn's. My doctor's say go to a shrink but between many doc appoinmtents and hospital visits i have already i can not afford to go to see more docs. So maybe if someone could tell when and where the next group might be that would be greatly apprecited.
