Ok, as some of us may or may not know, people with crohn's are advised to avoid IBprofin (I know I'm not spelling that right, but I think you know what I mean). Well, I'm a female that sometimes suffers from period-related things like cramps, bloating, etc, and would like to be able to take something to help ease these things, other than plain tylenol which just helps with cramps. Problem is that things like midol and pamprin contain IBprofin. Can anyone suggest anything else? I'm open to herbal things, teas, etc, but would like tried-advice. As in, you've tried it with good results. Thanks!

The only thing I've done besides tylenol to ease menstrual pain, is to drink LOTS of water, stay away from salt (helps the bloating), and I use a hot water bottle on my tummy, or have hot baths. that seems to help for the most part. The hot water bottle also helps when my tum is giving me trouble :)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions :) Avoiding salt will be a toughie, as I tend to be a bit of an addict, haha. But I really need to lower my sodium anyhow, this just gives me another reason to do so. The rice heating pack with herbs sounds like a great idea- aroma therapy to boot! Thanks again!

I always take just one Aleve on the first day of my period. I know I'm not supposed to, and I'm not giving that as advice, I'm just saying what I do. I haven't noticed a problem.

I do have one of those bags too. We keep it in the freezer for the kid's bumps - it's gentler than an ice pack. I think it's just filled with rice, and it can be used in the microwave too.

I've thought about trying those therma patches, but since they aren't reusable, I wonder if I'd get the same results with a regular heating pad, hot water bottle, or the rice heat pack thing?

I only take Tylenol and use a heating pad. Oddly enough sometimes exercising helps with the cramps.

I also only take Tylenol. I was an avid (sp) aleve popper. (Lets face it the drug works wonders). I usally only get Cramps the first day of my "friend" and try and take it easy that day (which doesn't always happen). Besides the tylenol I eat a little bit of chocolate to me emotionally. I love me some chocolate. =)

I will have to get one of the "microwavable" cloth things filled with rice or the therma patches.
