Mercaptopurine

My daughter was diagnosed 2 months ago and she is being treated with Mercaptopurine and it doesn't seem to be working very well. How long should we give this drug before we ask for something else?

It can take anywhere from 6 - 12 weeks to see any improvement from Mercaptopurine. She should be getting regular lab work to monitor her white blood count. If she has symptoms, they should have put her on some other "fast acting" med to help her in the meantime.
