Hello all,

Quick question for those of you who get small bowel obstructions. Do you notice a metallic taste in your mouth either before or during a partial/full obstruction? It tastes like I literally just spit out a mouth full of quarters all of the time. This happened prior to my last obstructions, and the taste is back again and getting stronger by day, and I feel more ill by day as well. Just wondering if else has made this correlation. Thanks!

Sorry, no never noticed a metallic taste prior to an obstruction or any other sign other than pain.

Would it be worth you getting checked out by a doctor now before the possible obstruction becomes complete?

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure they are related, it could be some weird coincidence. I'm not having the obstruction cramps yet, just a lot of bowel issues, on and off fever and generalized pain - likely just flaring. UnXmas if I have a twinge of the obstruction pain I am off to the doctor. Last time this taste started about a month prior to my obstruction, and went away after hospitalization/NG Tube/IV antibiotic treatment, so it seems they might somehow be correlated, but it might be something else non related.

I had the same issue before my first bowel obstruction. It also went away after the hospitalization. Mine was more of a rotten cucumber taste but it had a metallic twinge to it.
