I just got put on methylprednisolone but have been on entocort in the past. What's the difference? I know entocort has fewer side effects. Also the prednisolone is only for six days.

Really you only need to taper if you've been on it for longer than 10 days.

Prednisone acts faster than Entocort (Entocort can take up to a month to take effect) but Entocort has less side effects. Although the longer you take Entocort you may start to experience some of the same side effects that Prednisone can give but certainly nowhere near as bad.

oh thanks Crabby,

I didnt know that about the prednisone, I always thought you had to taper off the prednizone even with a short time.

I'm on a 4mg dose pack so it's 24mg first day and 4mg less each day. I have found entocort to work within 2-3 days in the past for me.
