Miss a dose of Pentasa then diarrhea after I take the dose

I was diagnosed with crohns in October of 09. The doctor started me on pentasa and prednisone. I'm no longer on the prednisone but still on the pentasa. I have a bad habit of forgeting to take my pills. I'm suppose to take 2 tablets 4 times a day and I maybe remember to take it 2 to 3 times a day. Some days I have forgotten all together. I find that I feel fine when I forget to take my meds but then if I do take a dose I start feeling crappy and end up in the washroom within an hour.
Does anyone have a guess as to why this happens?? I'm really confused I thought I would feel better on my meds and crappy when I forget them but that's not the case.

Sometimes meds can disagree with a person and make their symptoms worse. Or, since your symptoms happen relatively quickly (pentasa is designed to dissolve slowly in the gut) it could be the tablet itself irritating you.

Personally I would try dissolving the tablets in water (they don't dissolve fully but rather disintegrate) but also make an appointment with your doctor because there are other meds you can try that might be better for you.
