Diagnosed with Crohn's in late 2011. Dr says with symptom description probably living with for last couple of years. Thought diarhea was almost normal course of events. Developed major cramps and some bleeding which led to tests and the diagnosis. Also have palmo-plantaire psoriasis. Was on soriatance for 2.5 yrs. I am convinced that my immune system is comprimised as recent illness are all related to immune system issues. Stopped all psoriasis meds on suggestion of dr. Actually skin condition working well with creams

Was reatively healthy until hit 50's then issues started. Sleep apnea, psoriasis and new Crohn's

Am quite confused re diet as Gastro dr and friend nutritionist says diet does not induce crisis. Both saying eat as I want. From that I will know my triggers. Currently in a flare - worst since dx. On predisone now - only 25 day period. Great at beginning. Now down to 20 mg and getting more than enough bleeding, little stools and cramps coming back. Not sure how that works diet wise. Reading tons here but it is info overload.

Hello and welcome to the forum. There is conflicting messages about whether diet helps or not, it does depend on the individual and how the disease behaves for them. I have been told by my dietician that what you eat will not cause a flare up but whilst on a flare it can never hurt to try and at least follow a low fat/low fibre diet so as not to aggrivate things further. Keeping a food diary of what you KNOW gets you running to the loo is always good so you can avoid these.

It may also be worth having a chat with your doc about the symptoms you are now getting. I agree there is a lot of info here so just take it one bit at a time and if you are not sure on anything never hesitate to ask.

Hi Malbru and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you're having troubles :(

Ask your friends why, if diet doesn't matter (especially during flares) that elemental, parenteral, and enteral nutrition have the same remission rates as prednisone.

The sleep apnea has me interested. Have you had your vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels tested? People with Crohn's Disease are commonly deficient.

I wish you well.
