Soooo... at some point tonight, my mom decided to inform me that the dear doc has ordered MORE blood work. This will be the third blood test in about as many weeks. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!

Granted, she was tipsy off some wine before she decided to tell me (it came in the mail... weird... why not call????), so she didn't know WHAT he ordered this time and will show me the blood draw order in the morning, but wow.

I feel like they're vampires building a supply at this point. Really? More blood work?

Have I mentioned I'm terrified of needles, so this has been absolute torture.

It's annoying isn't it?
At one point I was getting one every week for nearly 3 months straight.
But it is a good thing the docs are being so careful.
I won't even go into the picc line for 4 months. ugh
makes you get over needles reeeaaal fast!
But when you are on crazy meds that Crohnies are, they can adversely effect
your liver and other things. so it is good to get frequent blood tests.
Hang in there!

Yuck! I hate needles too, although I've gotten alot better since getting this Crohn's stuff! LOL I just did vitamin level bloodwork this past monday, I thought they were going to drain me! The lady was like, "get comfy, you're gonna be here for a bit". I about died when I looked over and saw how many tubes she had to fill!! Luckily she was really good at her job, I didn't even feel the needle go in!

Hope you get someone good too!! That definitely makes it easier! Hang in there!!

LOL, I did once upon a time, Fog. It was AWFUL. I will never forget the nurse trying to teach me how and holding the needle over my thigh, pushing down, hesitating, and stopping before it hit skin. Finally, she pushed my hand down when I hesitated. I freaked and threw the needle across the room.

LOL we probably all have a zillion needle stories.
I have this weird thing about not wanting anything to touch my neck.
My arm veins were so bad one time the nurse wanted to use a vein
in my neck. Let's just say I think I scared her so much with
threats that she didn't want to be my nurse anymore. haha

That's a bit strange Jess! I hope it is for something useful!

I don't actually mind the bloos test thing as I seem to have good veins - thank goodness something in my body is good!

Well, maybe they just want to re-check, because something wasn't quite conclusive? Hopefully they can find some answers for you hun.

I hate needles. They never can find veins and end up diggin around inside with it lookin for the vein

last hospital bout I had the dr managed to stab my tendon an dig around in that for about 2 mins b4 realizing why my wrist was now the size of a coconut grrr

now I'm my notes it states "only too be attempted by an anethesist" - or how ever it spelt - and even they struggle too find veins ughhh

I've got my appointment Thursday for another round my GP has ordered up. Looks like the full deal too, including ECG and urinalysis, LOL.

Okay, well, I found out what the blood work is...

He's ordered the Promethus IBD Serology test. Hmmmmm...

Why he couldn't have ordered that with one of the last few rounds of bloodwork, idk.

I want one of those!! OK, I don't need one of those - but it would be interesting to see what the results are.....

I've never had so many needles in my life as I have in the past 2 months. During my surgery I developed 2 blood clots in my lungs, so on top of getting blood drawn twice a day every day, I also got needles twice a day of blood thinners. Such a good time!!! The second week I was in the hospital they had to give me a blood transfusion....lol....and another one in the thrid week (7 bags in all). And now I'm getting bloodwork done twice a week for the bloodthinners. Thank goodness I had hypnotherapy for my needle phobia last June! I'm quite the pro now....lol Sadly.....

Cindy

yea those sub Q thing for Heparin in the hospital made my left arm hurt for a month afterward!

I am really not minding the regular test to monitor the effect of Imuran. It is only one tube. What really gets me is when they take out four of five of those tubs and switch them. That needle bounces around a bit too much for my likes when they play rotating tubes.

I was thinking of getting a tattoo on my left Bicep just above the elbow joint that says "Warning Venous Valves Present" Just a little reminder for the vampires to think twice :)

Just a heads up....I couldn't go to my neighborhood lab for the test...I had to go to the main office 14 miles across town, call the lab so you can plan if it is somewhere different.

Isn't that to determine if it is actually crohns? I hate blood tests too..I dehydrate often and have bad veins :( Oww...I feel for you! Sue

I also had to go to a certain lab at a certain time so the test could be fedex out.

I had to get 3 promethius test and my insurance didnt cover them. Not fun.
