As a newly registered member, I thought I'd share a brief synopsis of where I'm at.
Age 54 (ouch!) diagnosed with UC in 1998, recently changed to a diagnosis of Crohn's in 2023 with IBS symptoms.
I was on long term Azathioprine (stopped in 2022) and this has gradually lost effectiveness over the years. Flare ups as and when, max twice a year for either 2 weeks or 3-4 months. Prednisolone to put back into remission.
Recent flare pre Xmas. On Prednisolone again. IBD team suggesting either Adalimumab or Ustekinumab - I'm a little sceptical as they can enhance the chance of skin cancer etc (I had skin cancer when I was 18) plus I've heard of mixed results with these drugs.
Does anyone have first hand experience of the Pros and Cons of Biological injections?
