Moving back to England

Dear All -

I need some help please, my partner and I are moving to England ( real home for me) from Los Angeles and I would truely appreciate if anyone can recommend good doctors and hospitals up in the York area, I want to make sure I have my partner's medical situation organized as soon as possible over there but I have no idea of any good, understanding (as much as they can be!) doctors.

Any input would be greatly appreaciated.

HI Stephie, I don't live that far away from York (I'm nearer Sheffield) so can't recommend anyone in York, however, I attend the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and my GI is Dr Mark Donnelly and he is fantastic, so nice as well. Details for the hospital are shown below. I suppose you won't be far from Leeds so theres always Jimmys hospital:

St James's University Hospital,

Leeds,
West Yorkshire,

St James' has both a gastroentology department and colorectal surgeons and is rated quite well.

Northern General Hospital,
Herries Road,
Sheffield,
South Yorkshire,
S5 7AU Tel: 0114 243 4343
The NGH has a gastroentology dep and colorectal surgeons and is rated as excellent.

York hospital is rated really badly so you might do well to stay away from there.

This hospital also has both a gastroentology dep and colorectal surgeons and rates good

There are several others in the surrounding areas but a lot are small community hospitals that won't have the services you require (gastroentology dep) or they have rated really poorly. Hope this helps. All hospitals by the way should only be a half hour to 45 mins away maximum. Hope this helps.
