Hey guys I got a colonoscopy coming up on wednesday morning but I have a heap of mucus leaking out of me daily.

What i'd like to know is should i do the prep earlier than suggested or just follow they're instructions i'm worried i won't clear out properly and they won't get good pics

also when i take laxatives when i have been constipated i usually pass stool all day but my colonoscopy is at 7.30am but in the instructions for the prep they say i gotta start the first sachet of picoprep at 5pm then drink a 1 litre jug of glycoprep an hour later and then another sachet of piciprep another hour later will this clean me out quick or should i start earlier

Wow that is alot of prep! I just use the picosalax and one sachet and water to follow, and the next morning another sachet. I guess cause you constipate. Also my prep is 2 dulcolax the night before the prep. As far as the mucous goes, it will be ok. I would the day before your fluids is no meat, or hard to digest foods. Just a thought.

Let us know how it goes!

The mucus wont be a bother as they can suck that away to see your colon. I think I normally have to drink 2 ltrs of prep beforehand. As said, you should have a got a leaflet about what you can and cannot eat and drink the day or 2 before.

Hope it goes well

If you're worried about not having finished before needing to leave for the procedure, then starting a little early would be fine.

Don't know if you've had a scope before but the over the counter laxatives and hospital prep are worlds apart- just to warn you lol.

Don't worry about the mucus. I have the same issue, too. But as rygon said, they can just suck it out of the way.

Good luck and give us an update.

well had the colonoscopy and had some good pics but only got 30cm up till they found why i was having ribbon like stool and my bowel was closing up they also got some good pics and seen heaps of deterioration and infection so now i have to be on antibiotics under a drip for at least a week and also getting steriod infusions to settle inflamation
