I would like to know about a good multi vitamin and probiotic to buy or company to look for.

Most of them have many fillers with junk and I want a clean cut pill. No wheat, dairy, soy or legumes in it.

I need the most paleo kind of pill.

It seems hard to find soy and dairy free probiotics.

Try Probiotic multi-enzyme digestive formula by Spring Valley. Also for a vitamin, try "Alive" (nature's way) brand. They are both sold at Walmart for reasonable price. The Probiotic is to be stored in the refrigerator and I highly recommend it. I think it was around $8.00 and The "ALIVE" was about $10.00
Hope this helps! 723crossroads (Teresa)Diagnosed 8-2011 failed:asacol, then entocort for a few months:worked and put me in remission for 5 or 6 months. Now flaring somewhat. Making appt. I am not sure about what kind of probiotics are out there, or what would be best in your case. I make home made saur kraut for beneficial bacteria.

I would take one of several whole food multivitamins available. I use Dr. Mercola's brand. They are not cheap, and you have to take eight tablets over the course of the day. You can't get real food vitamins in one little pill, like synthetic vitamins, and isolates.

On the label my whole food vitamins say that "This product contains NO yeast, soy protein, milk/dairy, corn, sodium, sugar, starch, artificial coloring, preservatives or flavoring."

Here is the link to the page with the Multivitamin I use. I use his because he is rather particular about his products. I am sure there are other good whole food vitamins out there.

Scroll down the page unless you want to watch the video. There is also a link on the page so you can view the label with the ingredients and amounts of the ingredients.

One other vitamin I would add is vitamin K2, especially if you have been on Prednisone, as I have. Just to prevent bone loss. The multi does not have K2 in it.

I really find VSL #3 DS to be the best probiotic that I have used. However, it is extremely expensive and not all insurance companies will cover it.

But it has really helped me keep my J pouch in good condition.

That is how my diagnosis started. I had severe UC, had a proctocolectomy and a j pouch. I then had chronic refractory pouchitis and was antibiotic dependant. I took VSL to offset the effects of the antibiotics. But last January I was diagnosed with Crohn's, and I still take them. I do think they help. I don't think they are going to induce a remission for anyone who is really sick, but I think it can help maintain a remission.

With so many people being indeterminate CD/UC and with the similarities, I honestly feel they are helpful for anyone with IBD.

I am going to ask my doctor to write a prescription. Do you take the highest one that needs prescription?
