I am new to this forum and an looking for answers or better questions to ask my doctor. My daughter has been sick for over a year on and off. It started that she couldn't hold anything down and ended up in the hospital. She felt better for about 3 months then it hit her again. She has been to a GI and had many test ran but nothing came up showing what it could be. She did have a ulcer and like I have seen on some post they asked if anything was bothering her. She was 14 when this started. She was feeling great from may till 3 days ago when she started throwing up everytime she ate. I fear we will be in the hospital again running the same test and finding out nothing.

Has she had a fecal calprotectin stool test? Endoscopy, colonoscopy or imaging?

Where was the ulcer licated? Was she tested for h pylori?

Have they mentioned cyclical vomiting syndrome?

Is she going to a children's hospital with a dedicated GI disorder clinic?

Theredirect can be so many causes for this and there are numerous GI tract issues. The best advice I have is keep a symtom/food/activity journal to present at your appts. And keep pushing the docs until you can find answers.

A fecal calprotectin stool test shows inflammation in the bowels only which may help steer further testing.

Other tests could be done to check motility and functional issues.

Hugs and good luck.

Gastric emptying test ?
Pill cam?
Looked for eosinophilic disorders ?
Allergy testing ?
Elimination diet - formula only no food for 8 weeks the introduce one thing at a time

Lots of gray in Gi land
It took 8 months to dx Ds and even then the Gi thought it was something different prior to the scope and right after the scope

Still in the process of figuring Ds out
Good luck

I'm sorry your daughter is sick.
The parent group here is fantastic.

I hope she's feeling better soon .

A couple of things it might be worth asking the GI about could be gastroparesis and SMAS if she is having particular trouble with vomitting and not keeping anything down.
