Ok I do not handle prednisone well. I asked for Entocort and she wont give it she said it doesnt work well. Well she isnt the one in pain!!! Anyone have this happen?

I've heard some doctors have that opinion, but you should be given the option of at least trying the Entocort. It worked for me both times I had to take it and my case was pretty severe. The second time I took it for a partial bowel obstruction. So, it CAN work.

It does depend on where your Crohn's is as to whether entocort will work maybe that's what she meant?
It worked for me (and I'm yet to be formally diagnosed) but it did take a month to feel any effect

Entocort does work and is a great maintenance drug for crohns located in the terminal ileum. If you doctor wont prescribe it, find a new doctor and talk to them about all the options. Prednisone is NOT a maintenance drug and should only be used during acute flares to get them under control and then the taper required after. If your doctor wants you on prednisone as maintenance, then that is not a doctor I would want. However, if you are in a flare and she is saying it doesn't work to knock a flare down, then that is ok since the prednisone does in fact work much better than pretty much every other drug on the market for dealing with a flare rapidly.

Hiya Mary

I agree with said, I'm on 3mg Entocort but just to maintain for a couple of months after a mild flare. But Pred is the only one that will blitz a major flare. And, also depending where your inflammation is too.
You're having a rough time lately, seems ike no-one is listening to your fears, I would consider a second opinion.
hope you feel better soon
