Hello my name is Kristi. I found that I have Crohn's on May 29, 2005. I started hurting on my right side when my daughter was 2 months old and i lived with the pain for a year and a half before I finally found out what was wrong.

I have had ulcers in my mouth pretty much my whole life and I had my appendix taken out about 7 years ago. I have delt with anal fissures and hemorrhoids for the past 15 years.

My first GI doctor said that I have had Crohn's probably since I was 16. I am 38 now.

I have been on steriods, prednisone, since Dec. of 2008. and I give myselg Humira shots. Every time i try to come off the steriods I end up with an abcess, fistula, or intestinal blokage; and end up in the hospital. I spent 10 days in Feb., 3 days in April, and just got out last week after spending 15 days in the hospital. This last time they finally operated on me. i had part of my small intestine and part of my colon removed. So far I feel OK just trying to heal from the surgery. They tried to remove it with the liproscopic surgery, but my colon was just way too infected, they had to cut my at my belly button about 3 inches.

Before my surgery I could not eat corn products. I would get in horrible pain and end up throwing up for 7 to 14 hours. About 6 weeks before I had my surgery I started hurting every time I had dairy products. I have been drinking soy milk since I have gotten out of the hospital. My question for everyone is: since they removed all my intestine that was infected with the Crohn's, can I go back to eating corn and drinking milk? or is that a no-no for the rest of my life? Any one out there with a story like mine? i know that we all have different stories, but i was hoping someone could shed a light with their story on this for me. i am still learning about this.

The first 2.5 years after finding out I had Crohn's i went into major depression and it was not until about 1.5 years ago that I have come out of it and back to life.

looking forward to hearing from someone on this subject.

Hi Kristi, welcome to the forum!
I really don't have any answers for your questions. I would stay away from dairy and corn until you felt really good, then MAYBE introduce one small thing and see how you react. I haven't heard of a corn allergy, but it's possible I guess. Maybe they can do a skin test for that?

OOO! Lookie here!

Hope you get to feeling better, and can stop that pred soon.
