Devynn had her reumatology appt on Monday. They said her joints etc are fine. They don't feel the ulcers in her mouth or the peeling on her feet are connected to her joints and agreed that it was probably stress from all the bs in school. They did comment on her dry skin. They asked if it was excema and I said no just dry. They gave me a prescription for a moisturizing cream. I went last night to the pharmacy and the pharmacist told me its not covered by my insurance. She said its expensive(approx $50 for a small container), so I told her I would be back in two weeks. She pulled me aside and said that she should not tell me this, but I can buy the ingredients (glaxall base and glycerine) myself and make it at home. The ingredients are both over the counter, but come as a prescription because they mix it. She told me how to do it and said I will save prob $20. I called Walmart today and it will actually cost me under $15 to make it! She is awesome!

I have eczema and have used Glaxal base. It basically is what it says-a base-without a lot of perfumes and additives, etc. Great for those with sensitive skin... and cheap! Olive oil is also good for small patches of dry skin. Can't use it over a large area or you come away smelling a little "olivey".
Devynnsmom, you mentioned your daughter's peeling feet. My son has this problem too. Is there a connection to Crohn's?

I used Glaxal base when my oldest has eczema and we didn't really find it helped much. But apparently mixed with glycerine it is supposed to work well. We will see, I didn't make it to the store tonight so I will be grabbing it tomorrow.
Were not sure about the peeling of her feet. It can be a crohn's thing, but the dr's are still saying they don't know. They can never fit her in when they are peeling (figures) so they have only seen it days or weeks later.

Have you tried a steroid cream for her feet?
My daughter was using it every second day and her feet and hands are back to normal.
