My Pill is STUCK!

The xray today confirmed it. Its still in my small bowel over 2 weeks later. The doctor had me go pick up some Magnesium Citrate to drink just now to try and flush it out tonight.

Today I had the most horrible stomach pains. She thinks it may be because the pill keeps 'trying' to go down but gets stuck, so when my stomach has been hurting it could be because of that.

So here I go, I've never ever taken a liquid Laxative before so god I hope this doesn't make me too sick.

:eek2:

Tomorrow morning if I haven't seen it pass (which she said if it hasnt passed in 2 weeks it most likely won't pass tonight) I will have to go back in for another xray and then a possible emergency surgery!

I am so freaked out!

Oh man I will be praying for you. I hope it comes out tonight. Let us know how everything goes. I really hope you don't have to have surgery.

Good luck Kittee. I take a powder form of magnesium citrate to keep me regular called calm. Its nice because I can titrate it up and down as my body adjusts each day and it actually doesnt taste too bad once you are used to it. My suggestion is plug and chug when you drink it and if you drink too much, expect results in like 8-12 hours.

I hope it flushes out so you can avoid surgery, but at least the mag citrate isnt a harsh laxative and it tastes better than things like milk of magnesia.

Hi I just drank half the bottle. It was like drinking a sour patch kids candy. Totally sour!

I am drinking my second glass of water now....waiting.

Boy my stomach feels BLOATED and I keep belching the stuff ugh. I almost vomited but I walked it off lol.

Look at it this way: At least you have a lot of pictures of whatever it is that's causing the pill to get stuck.

aw, i thought it would be well out of you by now, kittee!

i really hope the laxative works, and you dont have to have that emergency surgery. will keep my fingers & toes crossed for you.

Drank the other half of that foul liquid.

Still no movement... =( eeps.

Anyone know how they get it out? It's lyproscopic right?

I had this same thing happen on my first two camera tests. The first one never left my stomach, so they had to go down and get it out. The second one wanted to stay in my lower bowel. It was almost 3 weeks and it finally passed. I had another one just last september and it passed before the recorder was even removed..That was weird..

Oooo, sorry to hear Kitty, I was assuming you had passed it since you said you were diagnosed with CD. Hopefully this turns out okay. Best of luck.

Awww Kittee! I hope it doesn't come to surgery. I asked the same question you did. I'm told it can be done laprascopically but it depends on your overall health etc. I'll be thinking of you and hope it'll pass.

I hope it passes and you don't have to go to surgery. I remember once asking my doc about the pill cam, and he said it's not fro me because I have a narrowed ileum....

Well "crap!"

They want me to follow an all liquids diet today, and tomorrow morning I will have a SB barium series done. She said that the barium might push the pill through however...

If that doesn't work then it's surgery for me! And Drew she said they may not be able to do a laprascopic approach. =( I am TOTALLY bummed.

Also now I've missed an additional day of work because they told me they would do this today but there were no openings this mornings.

*tries to remain positive*

aw jeez, that little pill is causing so much trouble!

here's hoping it reappears, either with the laxative or with the barium. i'm wishing real hard for you kittee. x

Good luck kittee. Sorry you are going through this...especially getting the SB follow-through on top of your other stuck cam. I HATE that barium. It is ok for the first bottle, but the second bottle every sip always makes me gag and on top of that one time I got the barium stuck in my rectum as a big brick so I had to goto the ER to get it flushed out and almost passed out from it! Make sure you stick to that liquid diet so that doesnt happen to you as it was the worst experience of my life by far!

Yep nothing but liquids. I was feeling pretty good all day so I decided to do some house cleaning before tomorrow ...bad idea. Now I feel like crap. Guess I over did it.

AWESOME! Glad you don't have to go through surgery to remove it! Good for you. :)

:panda:

woohoooo!!!!

:yoshijumpjoy: :congratualtions: :yoshijumpjoy:

i dont think i've ever been so thrilled to hear about someone's bowel motions before! lol

That's awesome.

Do you have the exact time it passed.lol

I'm happy that it didn't come down to surgery that would have really sucked.

*smile*

Well they called me and let me know that even though it had passed, and that there was no visible stricture, they know there is still a problem inside because no one should have held onto a pill for over 2 weeks. That being said, they are hopeful that the prednisone will help "bridge" me, into feeling a bit better so they can figure out a long term course of treatment for my Crohns. She emphasized again with me the "remarkable" results they saw with the camera pill analysis and reminded me that I'm out of the woods now but who knows what the future may hold.

Congrats!!
Maybe you can have it made into a necklace.

Oh no! That's quite alright. Besides I never "saw" it clear lol! I'd have to dig through the sewage system!

I wanted to keep both of mine but it was too much crap to dig through to find it =p

Kittee, I'm sooooooooo glad it passed.
