Hello, i've been dealing with crohns/colitis for a little over a year now and had a question for everyone here. I am currently on Asacol and entocort to help my symptoms. I feel that my symptoms are pretty much in check except for specific situations where bathrooms are not immediately accessable (concerts, stuck in traffic, etc...).

I know its all mental because i find ways to overcome it, for instance i know that if i am driving long distances i must drive to keep my mind from thinking about "omg i think i need to go to the bathroom, but i cant...." then i get really anxious and the feeling of having to go intensify alot. This makes me second guess if i want to attend events with friends such as going out for a nice day of fishing on my buddy's boat and things like that.

So my question is this, do others suffer from things like this and if so how do you cope? I know my problems are no where near the level of some of you but i do feel your pain and any feedback would be appreciated!

Hi & welcome to the forum!!!

I've been dealing with D problems for years now. The last 2 years have been the worst. When I became "sick" back in Aug of last year, I was going 13+ times a day. When I was diag. just this past March, I made a promise to myself that I would not let my CD stop me from doing what I want to do. I am open about my CD with most everyone I work with, so they know when I say I have to go, I have to go. Also, most of my friends know as well & if I get up to go to the bathroom, they never make a big deal of it. I'm usually the one joking about it. :)

Like you said, it is ALL mental! You just need to say over & over again, which I have many a nights in the bathroom, YOU WILL NOT BEAT ME!!!!
