He is throwing up like every 10 minutes its horrible he has been sipping Gatorade but he just throws it right up I'm so scared. I can t take him to the ER ( no one is home to watch my other son and I don't want to bring him with me so I have to wait for my husband ) so what can I do in the mean time please help :sign0085:

You can take your other son to the ER.
We have taken the kids all the time
It is what it is when they need treatment that has to come first.
If not can your other child stay with a neighbor or have a relative meet you at the Er to do a hand off until you husband gets home.
Waiting in an emergency is not really an option.

Hope he feels better soon

Thank y"all. My husband left work early so I'm bringing my other son with me. I'm so scared I really hope it's nothing bad I'm like freaking out.

Football conditioning can be very intense, especially in the heat. Could he just still be dehydrated from being sick the other day?? I hope you get a simple explanation but glad you are having him seen.

((((Hugs))))):ghug:

In the ER he is still throwing up right now they are giving him fluids and stuff for the nausea so praying it works. He cried because he felt so bad and he never cries (I cried too but I left so he wouldn't see me ) my husband ended up staying. The doctors don't even have a idea of what is wrong they took some blood. I'm so nervous and scared this has never happend before :(

Thank you so much :)

Thinking of you Kaitlyn and hoping all is settling for you lad and you have some answers??

Dusty. xxx

Thank y"all so much :) he is home now ( just got home like an hour ago). They said he had heat exhaustion and he was very dehydrated and the combination of both caused the vomiting. He is doing so much better now so happy  . He is mad though because he can't exercise for I think a week the doctor said so that means n football for the whole next week :( but I'm just so happy that it wasn't to serious and they were able to help him :)

I'm so glad he's okay. Completely understand him wanting to play football!!! My son came home from a trip with a dislocated shoulder last week and, when I mentioned that most likely meant no hockey for the summer, his answer 'oh, I should be good for next week.' ....Umm, NO!

So glad you are home and what a relief to know what's going on...

We have several boys in our Church who were recruited for college football and soccer - for them it is almost a rite of passage to throw up during practices - as if to say, "See Coach I'm working hard..." It's crazy!!

I like this article on WebMD.com about drinking fluids during exercise: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/features/water-for-exercise-fitness - something to consider and to teach our kids.

For ice hockey players this is a good one: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/our...02/drink-your-way-to-optimal-performance.html

Knowledge is power :)

I hope he understands what happened, why it happened, and how he can prevent it in the future. Like ChampsMom said, knowledge is power!

Thanks for the info ChampsMom :) My daughter's soccer team was the same! OMG, during training, some of the girls would be vomitting and thought nothing of it!

Coconut water (not milk or juice) is also great for rehydrating and has lots of extra benefits, one being it's anti-inflammatory. Unfortunately, Stephen doesn't like it :( but, I haven't given up trying yet. :ytongue: Here are a couple of links with some info re coconut water.

Coaches push kids too far sometimes. One of my daughter's friends has permanent damage from playing basketball in high school. They often have children do things that they shouldn't.

Glad he's okay!!!
