New to this site, but not new to Crohns Dx. I was diagnosed in 1998, had symptoms for a few years before that. I grew up in NI, Co. Down. Moved to the US when I was 18 years old, and have been here ever since. I have 2 first cuz who have Crohns dx. I have had tried many meds, too many to list. Currently on Asacol at the highest dose they can give me. I am addicted to chocolate, very very sad... chocolate dosen't like me so much. I try to exercise every day, i feel alot better when I do. I have great support from my fiancie. My mom and dad live in NI, with my brothers and sister. I just can't make them understand that I can't eat alot of the same stuff that they do. (just coz its good food, dosen't mean its good for me). I try to have a positive attitude, although we all know thats not always easy. If I fart, i own it and laugh. I went though nursing school with Crohns, worked for a few years in an ICU. Moved to be with fiancie and now work as a school nurse. Not quiet as exciting, but the schedule suites me alot better.
Im glad to have found this site, even though i have great support. No one knows what crohns is like unless you have it yourself.
Ok going to go smell a chocolate bar, and wish i was eating it...... LOL

Welcome woops! Glad to have you join us. I am glad you have at least some support but I agree no one knows what it is like to go through except those with the disease themselves. We all also have some people in our life who will never get it.

Welcome woops.
I can relate to explaining again and again about eating or not eating when or what?
They do mean well though.
I think it is cool you accepted your situation and changed to being a school nurse.
I gave up Mountain Dew almost completely, one occasionally.
Can Smelling a Chocolate bar Cause gas ??

Welcome. I'm still fairly new. (To the disease and to the forum). I will graduate in 3 weeks from nursing school!!! The stress hasn't helped with the flares, but I think things may start to cool down now that I'm done with all my tests and lectures. Just doing my preceptorship now. Not sure I could do the school nurse thing. I'm not a kid person per say. I'm not mean to them, I'm just not good with the peds nursing.

Anyway, welcome again!!
