my story: almost 4 years of hell

It all started 4 years ago I had constant diaherea and I was losing weight really fast. I went from 185lbs to 125lbs in about 3 months and no doctor I went to knew what was wrong with me and then finally on about the 5th different doctor visit a knowlegable doctor told me I should have a colonoscopy with a possiblity of finding out what was wrong. After the colonoscopy I was diagnosed with a disease I had never heard of called Chrohn's Disease. Once diagnosed I was prescribed medication about 9 or 10 pills a day. And it worked for a short time and then I learned that the pain from the disease comes and goes. Also after alot of resistance(from myself) I gave in to the fact that I had to change my diet and to stay away from things that inflammed me. Which means I had to give up some of my favorite food and beverages like orange juice, milk, pizza, anything with tomatoes, beer and liquor, and alot more. I think the worst part of the disease is watching people eat whatever they want and at the same time knowing you cant touch it, well besides the unbearable pain of course. Since being diagnosed I have had about 5 intestinal infections, and I have endured more pain than I thought possible(today was downright unbearable) slowly but surely I am learning to live with my disease.

Welcome to the forum Daylon! I know what you mean about watching other people eat foods you can not. But you need to always remember that there are people who have their own difficulties that are much worse. Some people are deathly alergic to nuts. Or as a diabetic they also need to be carful of what and when they eat. And then there are the many other things we have that we take for granted ( our limbs, our sight, our hearing, etc.). Just remember that you are still very lucky to be able to experience and do many things, and take pleasure (and be thankful) about what we still have.

I am sorry to hear about the pain also. I recommend keeping a food diary to see if you can determine what foods are causing discomfort and pain. Also try to chew your foods REALLY well (liquify your food) and be aware of some common problem foods (all nuts/seeds, whole wheat, corn, peas, skins of fruits/vegetables, etc.)

Good luck and feel free to ask anything you wish to here!
