I am a 40 year old male, that has been having problems with my gut for 25 years.
In middle school is when I realized I might have a problem, bloody stools, vomiting, cramps like no other. But the Doctors swore I was on drugs or making it up.So I dealt with it.
Skip forward 23 years and the story finally gets a title.Me and my wife went out to eat had a great meal, got home and started feeling sick, well after 3 hrs I had blood coming out both ends and was grey and toxic. My wife rushed me to Hospital and after 3 doses of delodin they git the pain under control the tests started ,cat scans, ultra sounds, endo, colon, etc.
Doc walks in and says you have Crohns,ok so after countless visits it final has a name.
All this time I thought I was going nutts hrs on toilet not wanting to leave when I knew I didnt feel good it was a very rough road and got very depressed,I am a out door guy fishing hunting camping, bbq's on beach so it took a bigger effect on me.Also I drive a truck so bathrooms was always a problem.I recently got out of hospital and this episode was the worst, the pain and blood was extreme and took them hrs to get it under control.
I am home now and dedicated to living a better life and talking and learning more about this disease. If I was rambling or mixing up stuff u am sorry I am still ons very high dose of pain meds.Ty for listening to my story.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear you have had such a tough time of things, just know you have come to the right place for lots of helpful info and support. Have you been sent home with any meds to treat the crohn's other than the pain meds? What pains meds have you been given and do you now have a referral to a GI doc for follow up care and management? What - if anything - are you able to eat at the moment?

I am sorry it has taken you so long to get a diagnosis and to get some help. I am sure you have suffered a lot in the last 25 years. :(

There are medications out there that will hopefully give you a normal life and have you feeling better than you have in years. But it will take a bit of time for your body to get there. If you can take some time off of work to heal it might save you some missed sick days in the future. This disease is nothing to mess around with. Let your body rest and heal.

Please keep us updated, and there are plenty of people around here who have been there if you have any questions. Take care ((((((Hugs))))))

I agree that if you can, try not to go to work - your body has been through so much and will need time to recover.

Please keep us updated on how you are getting on.

Ty all so much. It's really nice to know that others suffer from this horrible disease.
I have been looking all over this site and it is awesome.
Does anyone else have a hard time with maintaining weight I lost 35 pounds since this happened amd feel real skinny and unhealthy?
Ty all again .

I definetly lose weight when flaring and it is only if I am on steroids or the tum is completely settled that I can then get some weight on. Sometimes it can help to talk to the docs about being prescribed special shakes as these will help settle the tum but also get calories and nutrients into the body.

I lost weight , so much some of my own family does na recognize me. I tried Ensure,Equate and other drinks like that. I like the Equate, just finished one now.
They are great comes in Vanilla, strawberry , and chocolate. Omega 3 and 6, Gluton free,Lactose free, with no trans fat. 250 calories form 235 ml.
