I have just been diagnosed and am taking 4-500mg Pentasa twice a day. The medicine is helping and I am feeling much better...but ladies, have any of you had issues with symptoms of a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis? I am noticing some discharge and vaginal odor. Sorry for the details guys. ;)

Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us. Yeast infections are my second nature side effect...not nice. Mine are from antibiotics mostly. I take a probiotic and avoid sugar. That helps because yeast loves bread and sugar. I use Canesten tabs when ever I get them, they pass but dont let it get away on you. Glad you are here, let us know anyway we canhelp you. Where is your pain located?

Hi and welcome! ^_^
As to your question, Yes, currently I am on fluconzole for a yeast infection that flared up badly with the steriods. And had bv before that. (The reason i went to the ER when I first was diagnosed with crohn's was because I thought my bv had turned into PID (Because all the antibiotics weren't helping), and that's when they dx'd me with crohn's.
And, the discharge is a yes too. (I'm uncertain if one can have both bv and yeast infection at the same time - due to them being complete opposites) but if it is possible, then i would say i still had bv due to discharge and smell.
I know the yeast infection was brought on by the antibiotics, but I am on continual weekly doses of fluconzole to keep it away while on the steriod treatment (prednisone).

And don't worry, ;) details is the best part. We get in some pretty graphic conversations sometimes here. lol. I've don't know how many times i've posted and been like "oh yikes, they are gonna scream 'tmi' at me" but no one did; they jumped right in with me. lol. ;-) This is a great place. I hope you'll love it as much as i do :)

Welcome Ohaj, woohoo a Kentucky girl!! I'm glad the Pentasa is keeping it in check, hope it stays that way for you. Sorry, I can't help with your question though...stick around and good luck!!

Pen, my pain is located in my bottom pressure type feeling. The last few days at work i have been on my feet all day but I don't think that would make it worse.
