Hi, Newbie Matt here :) currenltly 29 from England, I was diagnosed when I was about 25, but previously suffered 2 years of quite bad pain before being diagnosed, I've had many colonoscopies and barium tests, I was taking prednisolone for a few months this helped a lot to reduce pain, also I was taking pentasa but had to stop this as it caused blood in my urine (I also have a kidney problem called IGA Nephropathy which my Dr thinks could be some how be related to the crohns and my immune system but not 100% sure why) not long after starting these meds I noticed I started to feel a little weird, like tingling in my head and feeling a bit spaced out, but this stopped after a few weeks, maybe my body had to adjust to the meds, I'm not sure.

I had surgery in the summer of 2009 to remove the end of the small intestine (terminal ilium) and part of the large intestine and also removal of appendix. I was not looking forward to the op but i'm glad I had it done, I feel so much better now and currently taking 150mg Azathioprine per day, but recently started to get dizzy spells and a spaced out kind of feeling again, I'm pretty sure this is related to taking Azathioprine, anyone else have any opinions on this?

Hi Matt and welcome!

Glad your surgery went well and that you are feeling better because of it. Check over in the treatment section to see if there are any posts about Aza and the side effects. It's likely that someone over there can give you some guidance.

Good luck - I hope you can get the dizziness under control.

- Amy

Hi Matt!! I am happy to hear you are doing well, but I am sorry about the dizzy spells. Please be careful driving!

I would maybe post your questions regarding this side effect in the Treatment forum; I bet you'll get more members to respond there.

Hi Matt and welcome.

If they removed your Ileum, do they have you on B12 injections? If not, I would DEFINITELY talk to your doctor about this.

Anyway, it's great to have you here. I hope to see you around :)

Hi Matt - similar story to mine - similar age when diagnosed and my diagnosis took a while too. I also had the terminal ileum removed - feel much better but need B12 injections. Hope you stay well - take care and best of luck. Chris
